Safe lifting and bending during pregnancy to avoid back pain:
When you’re pregnant life doesn’t stop. You may have a busy work life or be preparing your home for your new arrival. Either way, practicing safe lifting and bending is crucial especially during pregnancy.
-Using your lower body, bend at the knees instead of the waist. Use your thigh muscles to push yourself back up without using your back.
-If you will be standing for extended periods of time, try to keep one of your feet elevated on a low stool. Then alternate the standing foot as needed.
This will help distribute the weight on your feet at lesser periods of time and decrease swelling.
